Last week I ordered a Bluesky gel nail kit from eBay, along with a Bluesky gel nail polish in the colour 40505/Tropix. I’m not going to talk too much about the gel nail kit because I’m going to write a separate blog post on it, as well as a step by step guide on how to do gel nails at home – keep your eyes pealed for that!
I’ve wanted to try out gel nail polish for such a long time now and I’m glad I finally did. Gel nails can last up to two weeks without chipping or peeling and that information immediately sold me. Some of you may know that I’m a trainee hairdresser, so I shampoo a lot of people’s hair on a daily basis. This means that when I paint my nails with ordinary nail polish, almost every nail is chipped by the end of my shift due to my hands being in the water. I spend a lot of money and time on my nails, so it’s really annoying when this constantly happens.
I eventually got round to ordering my very own gel nail kit. When I was ordering it, I chose the colour 40505/Tropix to come with the kit. This shade is perfect for the Summer. It’s not a red and it’s also not a pink – it’s somewhere in between the two. I want to say it’s a coral colour but I’m not to sure if it is… Would you say so? Anyway, I can tell I’ll be wearing this a lot throughout the upcoming months.
The brand is called Bluesky and they have amazing reviews online. Their gel nail polishes are only £5 each, which is an absolute bargain! Before I got this gel nail kit, I used to spend £5 (sometimes more) on nail polishes from brands like Essie, Nails Inc, Models Own, ect. This Bluesky gel nail polish is just as good as any other nail polish brand I’ve tried out. Obviously I can’t compare this to my others too much as they’re not gel. However, the gel nail polish looks amazingly opaque after two coats. I also love the applicator on this as it gives me a really nice, even stroke when applying the colour onto my nails.
They say gel nail polish can last for two weeks, which is the main reason why I wanted to start using gel instead of normal nail polish. I’ve only been wearing it for a day so I can’t comment too much on this, but I’ll let you all know how it goes on Twitter (@J4mieJohnston) – a cheeky plug.
I’ll definitely be buying more gel nail polishes from this brand in the future. I’ve currently got my eye on their neon range and I think bright nails are definitely going to be in this Summer! I can already tell that my bank balance is going to hate me haha.
