AutoCAD is used for a range of industrial design and drafting applications, including architectural design and modelling, electrical and mechanical schematics, road maps, product design, and 3D texturing.

In common with other commercial CAD packages, AutoCAD is heavily oriented towards architectural design and engineering. The design process typically begins with the creation of a 2D plan. The plan may be divided into sections and include large-scale features such as walls, floors, rooms and roofs. Sections are often divided into smaller elements such as windows, doors, walls, and furniture. The elements are then combined and/or linked to create assemblies. A “2.5D” aspect enables users to view plan sections in three dimensions (3D), rotate, zoom and animate sections.

Within each section, a 3D view can be created and manipulated to any degree of detail. Sections can be independently grouped into models, and then all models combined to form assemblies. AutoCAD is often used for major construction projects, such as single-family homes and office buildings.

In addition to the main 2D/3D view, AutoCAD supports an extensive array of other editing tools, including:

command history

dynamic filters/palettes

visual styles

All layers and items created by a user can be saved to a file, and multiple files can be saved within one project. AutoCAD includes a series of predefined templates for objects, rooms, furniture, windows and doors, that are organised into a system called “Prefabs”. Files can also be opened from a folder on a local drive, or from a network drive.

The AutoCAD software can export files in a variety of formats, including 3D modelling (stereolithography (SLA) and selective laser sintering (SLS)), elevation and text files, and drawings. It is also possible to import into other applications (e.g. FreeCAD, SketchUp, Magics), and to export to DXF, DWG, DGN, GIF, JPG, PDF, PNG and STL formats.

AutoCAD Activation Code

AutoCAD Cracked Version RT supports a scripting language called AutoLISP, as well as a number of other scripting languages including Visual LISP, JavaScript, and VBScript. In February 2010, AutoCAD Crack Mac started allowing use of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), which is included as part of the standard Office 2010 suite.

AutoCAD LT, as well as any AutoCAD LT-compatible products that were purchased as part of the AutoCAD LT, family, were originally only able to create and edit drawings using VBA macros, or use Visual LISP. However, with AutoCAD LT 2015, AutoCAD LT was updated to support drawing on the native C++ platform for AutoCAD LT.

Supported platforms
The AutoCAD file format (.dwg) is defined in Drawing Interchange Format (DIF) specification 2.0, which is also defined in the Autodesk Architecture Design Standard. In addition, several other drawing standards are defined and used by AutoCAD:

AutoCAD Architecture (CADD) – Architecture drawing standards, including the Architecture Specification for Revit (CADD-AS4.0) and Civil 3D (CADD-AS3.1) standards. These standards are used in AutoCAD Architecture to create architectural drawings.
AutoCAD Electrical (CADD) – Electrical drawing standards, including the Electrical Construction Code (ECC) for Buildings (CADD-ECC). These standards are used in AutoCAD Electrical to create electrical drawings.
AutoCAD Plant Maintenance (CADD) – Plant maintenance drawing standards, including the Plant Maintenance Specification (CADD-PM) and the Plant Maintenance Standard for Revit (CADD-PM-AS4.0). These standards are used in AutoCAD Plant Maintenance to create plant maintenance drawings.
AutoCAD Infrastructure (CADD) – Infrastructure drawing standards, including the Infrastructure Specification for Revit (CADD-IS4.0). These standards are used in AutoCAD Infrastructure to create infrastructure drawings.
AutoCAD Landscape (CADD) – Landscape drawing standards, including the Landscape Specification for Revit (CADD-LS4.0). These standards are used in AutoCAD Landscape to create landscape drawings.
AutoCAD Mechanical (CADD) – Mechanical drawing standards, including the Mechanical Specification for Revit (CADD-MS4.0). These standards are used in

What’s New in the?

Data Access:

Quickly access your data, including large files, and view the data in an easy-to-read visual interface. (video: 1:24 min.)

New Windows and Tablet Features:

Easily manage and work across your Windows and tablet devices. Link Windows and tablet devices together, show side-by-side views of drawings, and even move drawings between the devices. (video: 1:12 min.)

New 3D Surface Modeling:

Save time and effort and take advantage of AutoCAD’s built-in 3D modeling tools to create any 3D model, including architectural, mechanical, and electrical 3D models. (video: 1:14 min.)

Exporting, Publishing and Sharing:

Easily generate DXF, DWG, DWF, and PDF files, and share any drawing with others. You can also receive a web link for your drawing so you can easily work with others online. (video: 1:11 min.)

What’s new in AutoCAD for Architecture

New Annotations feature:

Forgot to annotate a feature on your model? No problem. Just use the new Annotations feature to quickly tag and track notes in your 3D drawings. (video: 1:13 min.)

More than 30 new annotations with new types:

Need to know how a feature will be used? You’re in luck. With more than 30 new annotations, you can define how it is used in your designs and share those definitions with your colleagues.

Associate annotations with blocks:

Now you can associate an annotation with a block. To create this kind of association, simply associate a new annotation with a block that is a member of a block family. (video: 1:13 min.)

Create variants with annotation points:

Annotations can help you quickly create different sets of attributes on a feature. Use points to insert an annotation at multiple locations and use a simple click-and-drag to make other changes to the annotation. (video: 1:14 min.)

Configure annotation behavior on the fly:

Use the new Configure Annotations dialog to change the default behavior for the different annotation types, and remove restrictions on the range of features on which an annotation can be created. (video: 1:12 min.)

Expand complex annotations:
